GIBSONVILLE – Wesley “Ott” Whitaker, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 15, 2018.
He was the husband of 64 years to Peggy Gerringer Whitaker who survives.
Ott was the owner and operator of W.O. Whitaker and Son Trucking and Grading. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gerringer Whitaker of the home; daughter, Vicky Fogleman and husband, Gary; sons, Jerry Whitaker and wife, Bonnie; grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Fogleman, Justin and Kassie Whitaker and Casey and Clarkie McVey; greatgrandchildren, Gabe Oberg, Joey and Jamey Fogleman and Carter and Ciara McVey; sisters, Betty Baker and Mary Lou Soots and husband, Butch; lifelong friends, Rainey and Pat Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Ralph and Lena Southern Whitaker and brothers, Albert Lee Whitaker and Ralph Whitaker.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Mike Ainsworth. The family will receive friends form 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of his son, Jerry Whitaker.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 3739 National Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC 27612.
