MEBANE — Mr. Duffie E. McAlister, 72, of 3671 Bason Road, died at his residence on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at 8:05 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Joyce E. McAlister, who survives, and the son of Thurston Blease McAlister and Edith Evelyn Jones McAlister, both deceased. He was a retired insurance agent and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include three sons, Jeffrey Eugene McAlister and fianceé Laurie Brown of Mebane, Matthew Todd McAlister and wife Sharon of Graham and Jamie Adam McAlister of Burlington; two stepsons, Kevin Dean and fianceé Lea Furgurson of Haw River and Ricky Jason Dean and wife Tina of Milton, GA; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Devin, Kasey, Korie, Amanda, Ryan and Noah; seven great-grandchildren, Brett, Joey, Chase, Cassie, Reagan, Adalyn and Charleigh; special friends, Todd Thorton and Michelle Taylor of Mebane; and two sisters, Belinda McAlister Carter of Leland, NC and Terry Lynn McAlister of Southport, NC.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty McAlister Gooch.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Jonathan Jenkins. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. At other times the family will be at the residence.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Haw River, 508 East Main Street, Haw River, NC 27258.
