Edna Verline Handy
BURLINGTON – Mrs. Edna Verline Handy, 88, formerly of Burlington died at Liberty Commons of Alamance on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 5:48 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Henry Russell Handy and the daughter of Walter Thomas Andrews and Onie Thompson Andrews, both deceased.
Mrs. Handy was a retired beautician and a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Kimesville.
Survivors include two sons, Russell W. Handy and Thomas G. Handy and wife Myra, all of Burlington; five grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; one greatgreat-grandchild; one step-great-great-grandchild; two brothers, William Alvis Andrews of Elon and James Andrews of Carolina Beach; and sister, Pat Rhodes of Madison.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Boyd Andrews, Max Andrews and Willard Andrews and a daughter-inlaw, Judy Handy.
A graveside service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 3 p.m. by Rev. J. Barry Lemons.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Other times they will be at the home of the son, Thomas Handy.
