BURLINGTON — Mr. Henry R. Handy, 87, of Burlington died at the Hospice Home on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at 12:30 p.m.
A native of Sprague, W.Va., he was the husband of Edna Verline Andrews Handy, who survives, and the son of William Grant Handy and Nora Scott Handy, both deceased. He retired from Shoffner Industries and attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two sons, Russell W. Handy and wife Judy of Burlington and Thomas G. Handy and wife Myra of Burlington; five grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-stepgrandchild.
The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Chuck Ireson with the family receiving friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham is in charge of arrangements.
