Lester David Summers
ELON — Lester David Summers , age 85, of 7210 Busick Quarry Road., passed away Friday May 11, 2007, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Winona Merritt Summers and son of the late Charlie Washington and Ada Cook Summers .
He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church and was retired from Burlington Industries, Williamsburg Plant. He enjoyed farming and raising his hunting dogs.
He is survived by four sons, Wayne Douglas Summers and wife Pam of Elon, David Ray Summers and wife Denise of Elon; Charles Robert Summers and wife DeLois of Burlington and Eddie Wilson Summers of Statesville; grandchildren, Christie Ingle, Keith Summers , Kevin Summers , Brandon Summers , Josh Summers , D. J. Summers , and Dana Summers and a great-grandchild, Scott Ingle. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday May 14, 2007, at the Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert, pastor. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence. Mr. Summers will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes, prior to the funeral service.
Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Christian Church; 3625 Altamahaw Race Track Road., Elon, N.C. 27244.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for the exceptional care given their father.
