Lifetime Resident, Mrs. Arthur Hodges Succumbs at 69

Mrs. Lucinda Florence Hodges, 69, of Oldfield, a lifelong resident of Douglas County, died March 7, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, after a short illness.

She was born Jan. 5, 1900, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Hammons of Christian County.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Adah Maggard of Bradleyville in Green Valley Church at 2 p.m., last Sunday. The Douglas County American Legion took charge of the funeral arrangements. Interment was in the Mills Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Hodges; five brothers, John Hammons of Bradleyville, Enoch Hammons of Sparta, Riley Hammons, Washington, Melvin Hammons of Chadwick and Charley Hammons, Route 3, Ava, and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Garrison of Edmonds, Wash.

Other survivors include two sons, Norman Hodges, of St. Joseph and Delmar Hodges of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Celesta Stone and Mrs. Edith Curtis, both of Route 5, Ava, and 13 grandchildren.
