Delmar Burrell Hodges, 87 years passed away on November 29, 2012 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO.
Delmar was born August 31, 1925 in Douglas County, MO to John Arthur and Florence Lucinda (Hammons) Hodges. He graduated from Ava High School, Ava, MO.
Delmar was a resident of the Springfield community for 49 years moving from Willard area. He was a retired Correctional Officer at the Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield for many years. He was an Army Veteran and served during WWII. On July 20, 1950 Delmar and Maxine Hammons were united in marriage in Ft. Collins, CO and to this union three children were born.
Delmar was a member of the Baptist Church in Battlefield, MO. Delmar enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Edith (Hodges) Curtis.
Delmar is survived by his wife, Maxine Hodges, Springfield, MO, three children and their spouses, Gary & Becky Hodges, Kansas City, MO, Patsy Hodges, Mtn. Grove, MO and Sherry & Tim Norman, Springfield, MO, two grandchildren, Michael Lee Hodges and Tyler Norman, one great granddaughter, Brittany, one sister, Celesta Stone, Ava, MO, one brother, Norman Hodges, St. Joseph, MO, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Delmar will be Monday, December 3, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Mills Cemetery, southwest of Ava. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Tom Hodges. Memorials may be made to Mills Cemetery. 470, Delmar Burrell Hodges
