Obituary Online notes for Doc Rolla Andrew Jackson HODGES
Rolla A. Hodges, the son of Edmond Hodges and Eugenia E. (Summers) Hodges was born December 14, 1921, in Douglas County, Missouri, and departed this life July 30, 2007, at the age of 85 years 7 months and 16 days. Rolla grew up and lived in Douglas County and later moved to Taney County. He graduated from Ava High School. Rolla served his country during World War II with the Army Air Corp as a B-l7 gunner. He was a dairy and beef farmer. Rolla attended the New Mansion Church. On May 17, 1947, Rolla and Ruth Marie Maggard were united in marriage in Brown Branch, Missouri. Rolla and Ruth were blessed with three children. Rolla loved fishing, horses, telling stories, gardening, attending sale barn auctions, visiting with friends and being with his grandchildren and family. Rolla was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Marie, Bradleyville, Mo.; three children, Patsy Horner, Forsyth, Mo., Roger Hodges and wife, Dede, Bradleyville, Mo., Vicki Clark and husband, Ray, Aurora, Mo., seven grandchildren, Ritchie, Summer, Brad, Melanie, Darren, Bridgette and Jarred, who is serving a third tour with the Marines in Iraq at this time; five great grandchildren, Dustin, Alex, Sydney, Hailey, Olivia and two on the way; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007, in the New Mansion Church at Bradleyville, Mo., with the Rev. Jeff Marsh and Rev. Bill Austin officiating. Interment will follow in the Mills Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava.
