Obituary Online notes for Ruth Marie MAGGARD
Ruth M. Hodges, 87, of Bradleyville died Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Aurora, MO. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday, January 30 in the New Mansion General Baptist Church in Bradleyville. The funeral is at 11:00 AM in the church with Pastors Jeff Marsh and Jeff D. Marsh officiating. Burial will be in the Mills Cemetery, Bradleyville.
Ruth Marie Hodges was born Friday, May 24, 1929 in Bradleyville to William Lewis and Lola Mae (Combs) Maggard. She grew up in Bradleyville and graduated from high school in the class of 1947. One week after graduation, May 17, 1947, she married Rolla Hodges in Brown Branch. They had met at a tent revival in 1946.Together they made their home on a farm in Bradleyville raising chickens, hogs and milk cows. Rolla sold eggs, milk and feeder pigs. For twenty-two years Ruth worked from her home tying Roadrunner Fishing Lures. By working from home she was able to be near her children, grandchildren and parents. Rolla died in 2007.
Ruth enjoyed sewing, working with flowers, reading craft magazines, reading her Bible and attending Sunday school at New Mansion General Baptist Church. She was a very ‘level-headed’ lady that was easy going, loving and cared deeply for her children, grandchildren and friends.
She is survived by one son, Roger Dean Hodges and wife, Delores of Bradleyville; two daughters, Patsy Horner of Forsyth, Vicki Clark and husband Ray of Aurora, MO; a brother, Robert L. Maggard and wife, Arlena of Halltown, MO; seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rolla and one sister, Juanita Whitaker.
Memorials in memory of Ruth M. Hodges may be made to the New Mansion General Baptist Church, 887 State Hwy DD, Bradleyville, MO 65614
