Obituary Online notes for Sarah Loutitia GERRINGER
Mrs. Sarah Gerringer Byrd, 80, of Friends Homes West, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, following surgery at Wesley Long Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m.Tuesday,Aug. 27, 2002, at West Market United Methodist Church, withDr. Dave Melton officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

Mrs. Byrd was born Nov. 23, 1921, inAsheboro, the daughter of the Rev. Lindley Gerringer and Mary Oliver Gerringer.

She was a member of the West Market Street United Methodist Church and the First Couples Sunday school class. Mrs. Byrd was a graduate of Greensboro Senior High School in 1938 and attended High Point College. She was a retired secretary at the University of NorthCarolina at Greensboro with 20 years of service.

Surviving are her husband,Robert Bryant Byrd of the home; son Bryant Byrd III and his wife, Lynn of Dallas,Texas; daughter, Pat Norton and her husband, Mike of Raleigh; brother, W.O. Gerringer of Greensboro; and grandsons,David and Edward Byrd.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at Friends Homes West.
