Obituary Online notes for Robert Bryant BYRD Jr.
Mr. Robert B. Byrd Jr., 83, of Friends Home West, died Friday, June 18, 2004, following a short illness.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at West Market Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Melton. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

Mr. Byrd was born April 10, 1921, in Rocky Mount, the son of Robert and Agnes Byrd.

He was a member of West Market Street United Methodist Church and the Couples Sunday school class. Mr. Byrd was a graduate of Greensboro Senior High School in 1938, and attended UNC Chapel Hill. He retired from R.B. Pruitt Co. Robert was a member of the Battleground Civitan Club, and a past president of the Southern Candy Wholesalers Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah G. Byrd.

Surviving are his son, Robert Bryant Byrd III and wife, Lynn of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Patricia Norton and husband, Mike of Raleigh; sister, Carol Sellars of Greensboro; and grandsons, David and Edward Byrd.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at Friends Home West.

Memorials may be made to Friends Home West Residence Assistance Fund, 6100 West Friendly Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27410, and to West Market St. United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 870, Greensboro, N.C. 27402.
