Samuel "Sammy" Preston Jenkins, Sr.

April 24, 1943 ~ December 19, 2020 (age 77)

Samuel “Sammy” Preston Jenkins, Sr., 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 19, 2020.  He was born in High Point to the late James Mearle and Martha Emma Hogans Jenkins and was married for 60 years to Sylvia Mansfield Jenkins who survives.

Sammy was a very active member of World of Pentecost where in past years he enjoyed looking after the church grounds, especially doing the yardwork, for several years.  He loved hunting, fishing and just being outdoors.  Sammy was a very loving and giving person who children were naturally drawn to and he was not afraid to reach out and help a stranger in need.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; children, Johnny (Lisa) Jenkins, Sandra (Eric) Durham, Sammy (Sharon) Jenkins, Jr., Ann (Jay) Norris, Jeff (Christy) Jenkins, Paul (Candy) Jenkins; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 28, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kenny Godair with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.  The service will be live streamed.  Sammy will be available for viewing from 8:00 am to 1:45 pm Monday prior to the service.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Yakana, Casey, John and all the nurses and staff at ARMC.
