James Henry Ireland Sr.
ELON — James Henry Ireland Sr., age 89, of 2211 Broken Arrow Lane, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was a native of Alamance County, and the husband of the late, Juanita Chrismon Ireland . James retired from the TV Company of Burlington and was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Delores Foster and her husband, Larry, of Burlington; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie Ireland and his wife, Marlene, of Elon and James H. Ireland Jr. and his wife, Clara, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Sonjia Cross, Wendy Davis, Charla Cozart, Mendall Ireland , Laura Ireland , Dwayne Smithey and Sheila Lackey; great-grandchildren, Sierrah Cross, Tristan Cross, Chloe Cross, Hunter Cozart, Nick Cozart, Daniel Ireland , Jessica Morris and Amanda Lackey; sisters, Elouise Gourly of Elon, Dorothy Gerber of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Faye Irene Hancock of Winchester, Virginia, Sue Ireland of Greensboro.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, Leonard Arnot Ireland Sr. and Mattie Mae Gibson Ireland ; brother, L.A. Ireland Jr.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dave Gilbert and entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
