Kenneth Wayne "Chip" Fishel Jr.


    ELON — Kenneth Wayne "Chip" Fishel Jr., 54, died Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. following a long illness. He was born in Martinsburg, Va. on May 3, 1953, and resided in Harrisonburg, Va. before moving to Elon, N.C. in 1984. He graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1971. He was employed at Foley Motors in Harrisonburg, Va. and Cox Toyota in Burlington, N.C. He was also a residential builder and contractor. Chip was a Master Mason of Rockingham Union Lodge No. 0027, and a former member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg, Va.
    He was the son of Dorothy Ireland Fishel Garber, who survives, of Harrisonburg, Va., and the late Kenneth W. Fishel Sr. He is also survived by two sons, Kenneth James Fishel of Elon, N.C., Jonathan McCloud Fishel, and wife, Meagan Forbis Fishel, of Graham, N.C.; and grandson Jonathan Isaac Fishel; two brothers, Gregory Ireland Fishel of Darlington, S.C. and Steven Edward Fishel of Port Republic, Va.; two nieces and three nephews.
    A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 23, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 752 Greenwood Drive, Burlington, N.C. at 11 a.m. Visitation and a covered dish lunch will follow the service.
