EFLAND - James Troy Garner, 84, formerly of Prince Edward Drive, Elon, passed away Monday, February 20, 2006, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Curl Garner, and the son of the late Oliver L. and Annie Williams Garner. Troy was a native of Alamance County, retired from Burlington Industries Finishing Plant, and was a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church. He was a great father and wonderful grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Garner of Efland; son, Rudy Garner and his wife, Debbie, of Elizabethton, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brandy Leigh Moya and her husband, Howard Antonio Moya, Chad James Garner, Kristi Phillips, Kittie Pickle and her husband, Robert; great-grandchildren, Dana Elizabeth Leigh Christopher, Antonio Joseph Dakota Moya, Manuel Alexander James Moya, Ashley Nicole Moya, Juan Aidan Gabriel Moya; brothers, Coy Garner of Graham, Alfred Garner of Roxboro, Clifford Garner of Altamahaw. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister, Nona Mae May; and brother, Frank Garner. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Memorial Christian Church by the Rev. John Shields, and the Rev. Frank Gribble. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., and at other times at the home of his daughter, Carolyn Garner, 8504 High Rock Road, Efland. Memorials may be made to Peoples Memorial Christian Church, 247 N.C. 87 North, Elon, N.C. 27249.
