Thomas Wade “Tom” Stanfield
BURLINGTON — Thomas Wade “Tom” Stanfield, 52, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Alamance County to the late Sara Lea Iseley Stanfield and the late Herbert Elwood Stanfield and was the husband of 30 years to Cindy Carroll Stanfield, who survives.
Tom was employed with Harris Teeter and formerly with Winn-Dixie in Mebane and Burlington. He was a tobacco farmer for most of his life. Tom was a member of Baynes Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a former Sunday School teacher.
In addition to his wife, Cindy, of the home, survivors include his daughters, Megan Carroll Stanfield and fiancé Kevin Whited and Logan Paige Stanfield, both of the home; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Willie Massey of Elon, Brenda Faye Stanfield, Betty Andrews, Patricia and Keith Newcomer, all of Burlington; brothers and sisters-inlaw, Stephen and Tommie Stanfield, David Elwood Stanfield, John and Becky Stanfield, all of Burlington; father-in-law and motherin-law, Irvin and Annie Laurie Carroll of Providence; brothers-in-law and spouses, Carl and Nan Carroll, Gary and Sherry Carroll, all of Providence; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Dean Stanfield.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Baynes Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Ingram and the Rev. Scott Williams, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
