Dorothy Barts Gann
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Dorothy Barts Gann , 72, of 1805 Springhill Drive, Burlington, died at her residence on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 7:45 a.m. following one year of declining health.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of 53 years to Nathanuel Lee Gann , who survives, and the daughter of James Coy Barts and Lillie Mae Jefferson Barts , both deceased.
She was a former coowner of Two for Tea and a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church.
In addition to the husband of the home, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Debra Gann Gwynn and husband, Bobby, of Elon and Mrs. Michelle Gann Bowes and husband, Dana, of Elon; eight sisters, Mrs. Ann Byrd and Mrs. Margaret Minor, both of Burlington, Mrs. Beatrice Williams, Mrs. Virginia Patton, Mrs. Betty Frazier, and Mrs. Catherine Campbell, all of Reidsville, Mrs. Olean Somers of Altamahaw, and Mrs. Mary Ellen Robertson of Elon; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Frances Barts of Reidsville; two grandchildren, Tia Wirbelauer and Scottie Strickland; and one stepgrandchild, Dustin Bowes.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. J. C. Barts .
A graveside service will be conducted at Trinity Baptist Church cemetery on Friday, January 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Tommy Richardson, the Rev. Steve Tucker, and the Rev. Curtis Oakley.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times they will be at the residence.
