Willie Mae Tickle Morgan
January 9, 1928 — March 18, 2023
Gibsonville – Willie Mae Tickle Morgan, 95, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Guilford County to the late Quint and Lydia Lowe Tickle, and was the wife of 65 years to the late Edsel Gaynell Morgan.
Willie Mae retired as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery from Alamance County Hospital bringing many newborns into the community. She was a lifelong member of Brightwood Christian Church where she helped coordinate special meals, church projects, remodeling the church kitchen and updating the appliances. She was a member of the Greater Whitsett Ruritan. Willie Mae enjoyed working outdoors in her yard and vegetable garden, she mowed her own yard into her 90’s. She was an avid quilter and loved sewing for her family and friends and baking. Willie Mae was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Beth Morgan of Greensboro, Jane Hassell and husband, Frank of Wilmington, Rebecca “Becky” Shipwash and husband, Rodney of High Point, Julie Beauchesne and husband, Ernest of Burlington and Tanya Holley of Greensboro; son, Michael Morgan and wife, Janet of Swansboro; grandchildren, Jason Morgan, Elizabeth Hammer and husband, Erin, and Ashley Morgan; great grandchildren, Austin Morgan, Hailey Hammer and Emma Rose Hammer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; sisters, Ruth, Grace and Lucille and brothers, Earl, Henry, Woodrow, J.Q., Burley and Robert.
A special thank you to her nieces, Sherry Field and Ellen Tickle for all their help and care for Willie Mae over the past several months.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Friday, March 24, 2023 at Brightwood Christian Church by Pastor Mark Robertson with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
