 GIBSONVILLE, N.C. — Edsel G. Morgan, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at his residence.
 
 He was born in Star, N.C to the late Robert Presley and Maude Callicutt Mor gan and was married for 65 years to Willie Mae Tickle Morgan, who survives.
 
 He was a member of Brightwood Christian Church where he had served as deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Superinten dent. Edsel worked at Stri etman Biscuit Company for 18 years and spent over 20 years as a rural carrier and Postmaster with the U.S Postal Service until retirement. He was a member of the Evangelaires, traveling and singing at different churches. He was also a member of N.A.R.F.E., the Greater Whitsett Ruritan Club, the former Gibsonville School Board and was commissioner for the Whitsett Fire Department. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
 
 He is survived by his wife of the home; children, Michael (Janet) Morgan of Swansboro, Beth Morgan of Greensboro, Jane (Frank) Hassell of Wilmington, Becky Morgan of Greensboro and Julie (Ernest) Beauchesne of Burlington; grandchildren, Jason Morgan, Elizabeth (Erin) Hammer and Ashley Morgan; great-grandchildren, Austin Morgan, Hailey Hammer and Emma Hammer.
 
 He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and fi ve sisters.
 
 The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brightwood Christian Church by Pastor Ricky Cox with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
 
 The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Saturday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
 
 The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the Hospice nurses and staff and to all those who provided care and support.
 
 In lieu of fl owers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Brightwood Christian Church, 300 Brightwood Church Road, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
