Elon – Sandra Kay Somers Dickey, 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Hospice Home after 8 months of failing health. She was born in Alamance County but lived most of her life in Caswell County. She was born on March 31, 1946 to the late James “Jim” Burch Somers and Clarice Marie Lewis Somers. Sandra was the wife to Freddy Wesley Dickey of 29 years who survives.
Sandra retired from Pass & Seymour Legrand in Whitsett. She was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church where she was the Sunday School Secretary for numerous years.
Survivors other than her husband, Freddy Dickey include her daughter, Rita Parsons (Dale); step sons, Donnie Dickey and Travis Dickey (Anna Hughes); grandchildren, Michelle Harvill, Matthew Parsons, Nicholas Parsons, Bryan Dickey, Anna Dickey and Heather Stamp; great grandson, Brennen Harvill; sister, Sherry Kylander; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jimmy G. Somers and her brother-in-law, David Kylander.
The funeral service will be held 2:00PM Sunday, November 12, 2017 Altamahaw Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Tucker with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
