Mrs. Clarice Lewis Somers
ELON — Mrs. Clarice Lewis Somers , 81, of 3376 Underwood Road, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health.
A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Bunyan Lewis and the late Alice Troxler Lewis and was married to the late James Burch "Jim" Somers , who died in 1992. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Somers is survived by two daughters, Sandra Somers Dickey and her husband, Freddy, and Sherry Somers Kylander and her husband, David, all of Elon; a son, Jimmy Garland Somers of Elon; four grandchildren, Rita Durham Parsons and her husband, Dale, Joshua David Kylander, Amy Somers Willoughby and her husband, Troy, and Mark Christopher Somers ; three great-grandchildren, Michelle Nichole Burnett, Matthew Tyler Parsons and George Vaughn Willoughby; a sister, Margie Lewis Coble and her husband, John, of Burlington; three brothers, William Calvin Lewis and his wife, Alice, of Elon, Jerry Allen Lewis and his wife, Deaner, of Gibsonville and Donald Richard Lewis and his wife, Linda, of Elon; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Lewis of Stoney Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Robert Holt Lewis and Charlie Lee Lewis .
The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2008, at Gilliam’s Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Donald Smith, Dr. Steve Tucker and Elder Garland Vick. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
