William Calvin “Bill” Lewis
 

 
 ELON — William Calvin “Bill” Lewis, 86, passed away suddenly at his home Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015. He was born in Guilford County to the late Kenneth Bunyan Lewis and Mary Alice Troxler Lewis and was the husband of 53 years to the late Mary Alice Shanklin Lewis, who died in 2009. William went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
 
 William retired after 32 years with Western Electric and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He loved watching sports, going fishing, gardening, farming, woodworking, using his metal detector, anything pertaining to the outdoors he enjoyed. William was also known as the “Mulch Man”. He started his mulching business after his retirement.
 
 Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Roger Lee and Donna Lewis; special grandson, Justin Lewis and fiancé, Landon Isaac; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Deaner Lewis, Donnie and Linda Lewis, and Hazel Lewis; sister and brother-in-law, Margie and John Coble.
 
 He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a daughter, Janice Marie Lewis; brothers, Charlie Lewis and Robert Holt Lewis; and sister, Clarice Sommers.
 
 William was a family man who loved spending time with his family and helping others. He will be dearly missed.
 
 The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at Gibsonville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Sybil Parks with burial to follow at Shiloh United Methodist Church cemetery.
 
 The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Lowe Funeral Home Inc. and at other times at the home.
 
 Memorials may be made to Gibsonville UMC, 501 Church Street, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or to Shiloh UMC, Cemetery Fund, 4718 NC 87 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
