ELON — Sylvia Paschal Somers, 74, of 518 Pagetown Road died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born in Rockingham County, October 29, 1934, to the late Jesse Paschal and Gerdie Haney Paschal. She attended Rockingham County Schoolsandwasahomemaker. She was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church in Burlington.
Funeral services are Friday at 2 p.m. at Glencoe Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Massey. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Caswell County.
Survivors are two daughters, Robin Upchurch and husband Tim, Twiligh Branch and husband, Billy; three sons Guy Somers and wife Donna, Mark Somers and Matthew Somers; grandchildren, Jamie McGovern and husband Charles, Shandi Stalnaker and husband David, James Branch, Faith Mckinney, Jessica Branch, Josh Somers, Samantha Somers, Daniel Schoolfield and four greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are one sister Margaret Fitch and one brother Paul Paschal.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband James "Sonny Boy" B. Somers.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home in Yanceyville and at other times at the home of her daughter, Twiligh Branch, 530 Pagetown Road, Elon.
