Eugene Malloy Rudd


    YANCEYVILLE — Eugene Malloy Rudd of Yanceyville, N.C., passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, following a lengthy illness.

    He was the son of William Thomas Rudd and Mary Fannie Boswell Rudd. He was married to Nancy Russell Mise Rudd, who survives, on June 18, 1949.

    Mr. Rudd was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Yanceyville, where he served in many capacities including Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran of World War II. He operated Rudd Tractor & Equipment Company with his father for many years and retired after 26 years of service with Cole Chevrolet-Oldsmobile.

    Survivors in addition to his wife, include brothers, Thomas Hurley Rudd and wife, Dorothy, of Ruffin, Hassel Dixon Rudd and wife, Ruby, of Burlington; daughter, Nancy Phyllis Rudd Mincey and husband, David, of Raleigh; sons, Bruce Eugene Rudd and wife, Cyndy, of Charleston, S.C. and Jeffrey Thomas Rudd and wife, Deborah, of Yanceyville; grandchildren, Sarabeth Rudd, Chelsea Ann Rudd, Joyanna Noel Rudd and John David Rudd of Charleston, S.C., Marshall Thomas Rudd, Joshua David Rudd, Rachel Ann Rudd and Lydia Grace Rudd of Yanceyville.

    Visitation will be on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home in Yanceyville with funeral services to be conducted at First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 8.

    The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Rudd’s memory be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215, or the North Carolina Baptist Hospital Mother’s Day Offering (used to assist in paying medical expenses for those who cannot afford them) c/o First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 66, Yanceyville, N.C. 27379.
