Linda Price Obituary

Linda Barts Price 76, of Graham, NC passed away on May 6, 2024 after years of battling COPD.

At stage four her body could no longer fight the hard battle. She went the way she lived on her own terms. Mom gave her family time to say goodbye and we are forever blessed with her loving gift.
Mom was a true historian, a lover of all types of information both past and present. Research into genealogy was her passion long, long before ancestry.com. Before she became sick and couldn’t travel, she was a member of the genealogy society in her county and traveled all over meeting all sorts of people and she took pleasure in hearing their stories.  Her research was used in books and articles throughout the years. Although her illness stopped her from traveling, that did not stop her continuing her research, especially with the help of the internet. As recently as her last two hospital stays she was writing down names, dates and making connections. She truly believed in always learning, especially learning from our past. During all of her research, she would take the time to clean any grave stones or markers she came across so that the names on the stones could last forever. She loved to Bowl, being a part of a Bowling League she was very proud of all the trophies she had won. She enjoyed fishing and was always up for someone taking her fishing.

Historian was not her only passion. Mom was a quiet soul who loved to read but don’t let that quiet fool you. She loved her music and belting it out when nobody was around, not to mention dancing too. Her love of music made for fun drives as we would always sing along together.  She loved sewing especially sewing for the children. Her attempt to teach us failed miserably however we were forgiven when her granddaughter took up the needle and thread.  We can’t leave off Mom’s wicked sense of humor, which she needed being a middle child. Our mom was a strong believer, a very independent, intelligent loving woman, sister and mother whom we will forever miss. Love you Mom. You are no longer in pain so you can now start dancing again.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Hall Deaton; a son, John David Price and wife Amber Cantrell; her loving grandchildren, Jordan Andrew Deaton, Lindsey Paige Deaton, and Jacob Austin Price; her sisters, Thelma Davis and Shelia Rimmer; a brother, Keith Barts, and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvis Barts and Thelma Christine Webster Barts; and two brothers, Roger Barts and Hermon Huffman.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday May 15, 2024 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice at 918 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215. The family of Mrs. Price would like to extend a special thank you to Tammy and Denise at Springview Assisted Living in Graham for their love and care and for being her Springview family.
