Mrs. Irene Stanfield Thompson
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Irene Stanfield Thompson, 87, of 3630 Maple Avenue, died at 8:28 p.m. Friday Sept. 5, 2008, after three years of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was retired from Annedeen Hosiery and Company Shops News Stand and was a member of the Bellemont United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Diane T. McVey Ingleheim and husband Mickey of Burlington, Glennice T. Bunting and husband Billy of Greensboro; grandsons, Rickey G. McVey, Brian L. Bunting, and Michael L. Bunting; great-grandchildren, Jonathan P. McVey, Mallory D. McVey, Brian L. Bunting II, Brett L. Bunting, Olivia M. Bunting; sisters, Iris Sharpe and husband Dalton of Graham, Doris Holt and husband L.P. of Graham, and Hilda Isley and husband Danny of Graham.
She was preceded in death by husband Ralph Gordon Thompson; parents, William Lewis Stanfield and Mary Clatie Pickard Stanfield; greatgrandson Benjamin Bunting; sisters, Lillian Neese, Ione Neese, Edith Clark, Francis Stanfield; brothers, James W. Stanfield and Jack G. Stanfield.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 9, 2008, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel, Graham with the Rev. Al Trotter and the Rev. Jerry Jackson officiating.
Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Graham.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the residence.
