LONG BEACH, Calif. — Jesse Odell Swaim, age 93, entered this world on Sept. 2, 1920, and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at the home of his daughter in Anaheim, Calif.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Jesse Franklin and Ella Horner Swaim and husband of the late Ettie Mae Swaim. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and also retired after working 20 years at the commissary at the El Toro Marine Base.
Survivors include his daughters, Rita Huff of Downey, Calif. and Sheila
A. Dyer of Anaheim, Calif.; grandchildren, Darcey Jo Ramirez, Brook Yuhas, Kristen Huff, Shelly Swaim, Stacey Swaim, Jeromy Swaim and Jason R. Dyer and a host of nieces and nephews in North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Florida and California.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday March 1, 2014, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. George (Jack) Phillips. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. Mr. Swaim will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the Textile Heritage Museum at Glencoe Mill Village: 1403 E. Webb Ave., Burlington, NC 27217.
