BURLINGTON — Mr. Joe Ernest McPherson, 69, of 2324 Anthony Road, Burlington, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008. He was a loving husband, father and friend to many.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Melinda Rudd McPherson, who survives, and the son of Glenn P. McPherson and Leta Mary Ingle McPherson, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. McPherson was self-employed and worked in the professions of farming, trucking and clearing and grading land. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church and head of the Brunswick Stew fundraiser for the church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include his children, DeRhonda Schmeelk of North Carolina, Michael Joseph Glenn McPherson and wife, Michelle H., of Graham, and Brandy McPherson Hargett and husband, Stephen, of Harrisburg; and three grandchildren, E’than McPherson, Justin McPherson and Rhianna Schmeelk.
The funeral will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Howard Thompson. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m., and at other times they will be at the residence.
