LaMar and his wife Dorothy were married on 2 May 1919 in Chicago. They moved from Chicago to Southern California in 1930. They raised their 3 sons mostly in Glendale, with a few years in the 1940's spent in St. Helena in the Napa region of California before returning to Glendale. Then, in 1960, after their second son Glenn had married and was living in Mexico City with his wife and children, LaMar and Dorothy decided to move down to Mexico City for about a year, before returning again to Glendale.
LaMar's career was varied working as a professional magician, an engraver, a coffee salesman, a marketing salesman, and finally working in security at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, California.
LaMar died of Arterosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease at the Memorial Hospital in Glendale, two weeks before his 69th birthday.
After LaMar's wife Dorothy passed away 13 years later in 1977, their son Glenn had LaMar's ashes moved next to Dorothy's, so they could be together. They are both buried in Niche 35979, Columbarium of Understanding, Freedom Mausoleum at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
