“D.C.” Durwood C. Brooks
BURLINGTON — “D.C.” Durwood C. Brooks, 62, of 2229 Delaney Drive, Unit 213, Burlington, died at the Hospice and Palliative Care Home of Alamance-Caswell on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 4:50 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Cleave Carson Brooks and Arlene Tickle Ingle, who survives, and the husband of Billie R. Mozley, who survives. He was a self-employed painter and home remodeler. D.C. attended Westover Church in Greensboro regularly. He enjoyed playing in area bands during his younger years.
In addition to his wife of the home and mother of Burlington, survivors include his son, Derek Carson Brooks and wife Kelly of Burlington; stepsons, Ross Mozley and Bret Carrier, both of Atlanta, Ga.; and stepdaughter, Jennifer Moore Whaley of Raleigh.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Stoney Creek Presbyterian Church, 2140 Stony Creek Church Road, Burlington, NC 27217 on Friday, June 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. The family will greet friends immediately following the Life Celebration in the fellowship hall of the church.
