Dewey Lee Campbell


    BURLINGTON — Dewey Lee Campbell, 69, of 317 Quintas Ave. went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 30, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Campbell was born April 3, 1940 in Caswell County to the late Jim and Verona Edwards Campbell. He retired from Holt Hosiery Mill after 40 years of service. Dewey was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church where he served on the committee board of the church.
    A funeral service will be conducted at11 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Open Bible Baptist Church by Pastor Steve Pruitt. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
    Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Shelby L. Campbell, of the home; two daughters, Sherrie C. English, and Dee C. Dameron and her husband Terry all of Burlington; a son, Rodney L. Campbell and his wife Annette of Burlington; four grandchildren, Jayson English, Morgan English, Joshua Dameron, and Shelby English; a brother, Jimmy Campbell of Reidsville; and three sisters, Geneva Byrd of Burlington, Lavern Campbell of Reidsville, and Cathy Webster of Yanceyville; many loving nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Willis "Woe" Toler.
    Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; a sonin-law, Jay English; brother, Donnie Campbell, and sister, Marie Hardee.
