GRAHAM — Mary Ada McPherson Roney Day, 96, of 1250 Dixie Street, Graham, died Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Day was born in Alamance County. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late James and Della McPherson Isley, after her mother’s death. She was formerly employed by Tower Hosiery Mill and was a housewife. She was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church. She also belonged to the Senior Citizen’s Club and the 39 and Holding Club.
Survivors include her husband, Kermit Roosevelt Day, of the home; sons, Robert Roney of Marietta, Ga., Gary Roney and wife Teresa of Burlington, N.C., John Roney and wife Sheila of Gardners, Pa., and Fred Roney of the home; stepson, Howard Day and wife Jeannie of Efland, N.C.; grandchildren, Brandi Day, Ginger Roney, Heath Roney and wife Amy; greatgrandchildren, Marcus Roney, Peris Roney and Molly Roney.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Chesley Roney; an infant son; four brothers; and one sister.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Glencoe Baptist Church by the Rev. Darrell Massey, pastor, the Rev. Jimmy Nickelston and the Rev. Ken Hopkins. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham on Saturday from 1 until 3 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
