Peggy Smithey Moore, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 23, 1947 to the late Clyde Milton Smithery, Sr. and Minnie Lea Kernodle Smithey.
She was the wife of 57 years to James Vernon Moore who survives.
Peggy retired from GKN in Mebane. She was a longtime member of Altamahaw Baptist Church.
Peggy was a 1965 graduate of Western Alamance High School.
She enjoyed listening to gospel and oldies music and caring for her grandbabies.
She is survived by her husband, James Vernon Moore of the home; daughters, Shari Gray of Burlington and Tiffany Bergett and husband, Michael of Raleigh; grandchildren, Austin Baker, Braeden Gray, Jacob Bergett and Elaina Bergett; her brothers, David Smithey and wife, Diane of Efland and Milton Smithey, Jr. of Ossipee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Judy Montgomery.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 2:00PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Walter Jones.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45PM prior to the service.
The burial will take place at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home at other times. The family would like to thank the nurse and staff of Hospice and the caregivers for taking care of Peggy over the past months.
