Donald C. Iseley Sr.


    BURLINGTON — Mr. Donald C. Iseley Sr., 87, of 3265 Burch Bridge Road, Burlington died at his residence on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 5:15 p.m.
    A native of Alamance County,hewasthehusbandofHazel Truitt Iseley, who survives and the son of Clyde Iseley and Ola Jones Iseley, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the European Theatre in the Third Army. Mr. Iseley was a graduate of Elon College, UNC at Chapel Hill with a Masters Degree in Education, and N.C. State University with a degree in Vocational Education. He was a retired school teacher and administrator in Vocational Education for the Alamance County School System. Donald was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ where he taught Sunday school, served on the Consistory, and helped start the Tape Ministry. He was a charter member of the Altamahaw-Ossipee Civitan Club.
    In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include his son, Donald Clyde Iseley Jr. and wife Phyllis Beam Iseley of Burlington; two grandchildren, Joseph Iseley and wife Sarah N. Iseley of Burlington and Jonathan Iseley and wife Sarah H. Iseley of Dry Fork, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Brook Iseley and Chase Iseley.
    He was preceded in death by his son, James Roland Iseley; a sister, Virgie Iseley Garrison; and a brother, Earl James Iseley.
    The funeral service will be conducted at the First Reformed United Church of Christ on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Phil Myers. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
    Memorials may be made to the First Reformed United Church of Christ, 513 West Front Street, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or the Altamahaw-Ossipee Civitan Club, c/o Mr. Clifton McPherson, 1487 North N.C. 87, Elon, N.C. 27244.
