Hazel Truitt Iseley
   BURLINGTON — Mrs. Hazel Truitt Iseley, 89, of 3265 Burch Bridge Road, Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 2:45 a.m.

   A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Donald C. Iseley Sr. and the daughter of Ashton P. Truitt and Vera Richardson Truitt, both deceased. Hazel was a graduate of Elon College and completed her graduate studies at UNC-G. She was a past president of Beta Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an organization for outstanding educators. After 30 years of teaching, she retired from the Alamance County Schools.

   Hazel was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for 63 years, was a circle leader, was a member of the Consistory and was past president of the Burlington Church Women. She was a member of the A.O. Civitan Club where she was former chaplain and an active member of the A.O. Home Extension Club where she formerly served as a president.

   Survivors include her son, Donald Clyde Iseley Jr. and wife Phyllis Beam Iseley, of Burlington; two grandchildren, Joseph Iseley and wife Sarah N. Iseley and Jonathan Iseley and wife Sarah H. Iseley; two great-grandchildren , Brooke Iseley and Chase Iseley; and five sisters, Helen Hicklin of Burlington, Edna Noiles of New Canaan, Conn., Blanche Green, Louise Goodell and Betty Laurie, all of Burlington.

   She was preceded in death by her son, James Roland Iseley; and her brother, Ashton Truitt Jr.

   The funeral service will be conducted at the First Reformed United Church of Christ on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Phillip R. Myers and the Rev. Renee Burnette. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.

   The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.

   Memorials may be made to the First Reformed United Church of Christ, 513 West Front Street, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington , N.C. 27215.
