Oliver C. “O.C.” Guthrie, Jr.


    SNOW CAMP — Mr. Oliver C. “O.C.” Guthrie Jr., 88, of 7156 Beale Road, Snow Camp died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 6:20 a.m.
    A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Blanche Holt Guthrie, who survives and the son of Oliver C. Guthrie Sr. and Lillie Curl Guthrie, both deceased. After his retirement as a selfemployed poultry farmer, he was a part time employee of Shamrock and Sourwood Forest Golf Courses. O.C. was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Snow Camp Fire Department and the Sylvan Ruritan Club. He was also a member of the Buckhorn Gun Club.
    In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Frances G. Ingold and husband Johnny of Snow Camp and Ellen G. Thomas and husband Randy of Graham; two grandchildren, Jill Ingold Edwards and husband Ryan and Ashlea Ingold Mays and husband Ryan, all of Snow Camp; one great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Edwards; and one sister, Betty Hackney Mann of Snow Camp.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Herbert and Alfred Guthrie and two sisters, Margaret Mann and Maude Anthony.
    The funeral service will be conducted at Rock Creek United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Jim Folks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to Rock Creek United Methodist Church, 7315 Mt. Hermon- Rock Creek Road, Snow Camp, N.C. 27349.
