 BURLINGTON — Mr. Walter B. McCall, 89, of 2533 Orice St., Burlington died at his residence on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 6:34 a.m.
 
 A native of Central, S.C., he was the husband of the late Ruth Elizabeth White McCall and the son of Jacob Napoleon McCall and Annie Theodocia Nelson McCall, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Civilian Conservation Corps. He retired from the City of Burlington, Department of Recreation and Parks as the construction engineer. Walter was a member of Wicker Street Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon and on various committees during his life. He loved planting his garden and flowers in his yard and was an avid fisherman.
 
 Survivors include two daughters, Brenda McCall Summers and husband Jerry Ross and Edna McCall Parker, all of Burlington; son, Larry B. McCall and wife Brenda of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Bryan McCall, Brandon Summers and wife Katie, Josh Summers and Justin Leath and wife Lauren; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Carter.
 
 The funeral service will be conducted at Wicker Street Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014, by the Rev. Ricky Lewis and the Rev. Dave Gilbert. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
 
 The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
