Doris Rudd Dabbs


    BURLINGTON — Doris Rudd Dabbs, 80, of 1835 N.C. 49 North, passed away Thursday January 7, 2010 at the Hospice Home following two years of failing health.
    She was married for 62 years to Leo Scott Dabbs Sr., and was born June 6, 1929 in Alamance County, N.C. to the late Oliver and Bessie Simmons Rudd. Doris retired from Publix Grocery Stores in 1980 while living in Florida and then after moving back to North Carolina worked for Byrd’s Food Stores until retiring again in 1995. She was a member of Carol City Baptist Church in Opalacka, Fla. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
    Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Leo Scott Dabbs Jr. and his wife Cindy of Seattle, Wash,; a brother, Jerry Rudd and his wife Joan of Semora, N.C., eight grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carolyn Dabbs Parker; and a sister, Margaret Essicks.
    The celebration of her life will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bob Hillman. The family will receive friends following the service.
    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, N.C. 27215.
