August 8, 1949 ~ March 4, 2024 (age 74)
Janet Jones Miles, 74, of Alamance, NC passed away at Duke University Hospital on Monday, March 4, 2024.
A native of Alamance County, NC, she was the wife of Robert F. Miles, who survives and the daughter of Winfred Lee Jones, Sr. and Sarah Sykes Jones, both deceased.
Janet was a 1967 Eastern Alamance High School Graduate and retired as a computer operator. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Liberty where she was a member of the Agape Sunday School Class, and The Women’s WMU. Prior to failing health, she enjoyed working on Operation Christmas Child with the church and bible study groups. Janet also enjoyed genealogy as a hobby. She had much success putting together a large family tree on her father’s side.
In addition to her husband of their home, survivors include a daughter, Sara M. Thynne of Burlington; siblings, Winfred Lee Jones, Jr. and wife Ann of Columbus, GA, Iris Jones Graham of Tehachapi, CA, Benjamin Robert Jones and wife Linda of Elon, NC, Samuel Paige Jones and wife Gloria of Midland, NC, and Diane Jones Baxter of Southport, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews, Suzanne Hughston, Sonny Jones, Dennis Graham, Lance Graham, Traci Jones, Lynne Gallimore, Gary Tranbarger, Jennifer Bishop, Elizabeth Ballantine, Matthew Jones, and Jonathan Jones. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ada Lelia Tranbarger.
The family will receive friends at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Sanctuary, 3572 West Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, Liberty, NC 27298 on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Andy Clapp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3572 West Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, Liberty, NC 27298.
