Dorothy Steele Apple
GRAHAM — Mrs. Dorothy Steele Apple, 89, of Graham, passed away at 2:57 a.m., Sunday, September 27, 2015, at her residence.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Ed R. Apple and daughter of the late Fletcher V. Steele and Ollie Cooper Steele. She was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company with 39 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Graham, the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a breast cancer survivor.
Surviving are a great nephew, who she considered a son, Silas Steele; and a niece and great-niece, whom she considered a daughter and granddaughter, Cornelia Steele and Michelle Tranbarger.
Mrs. Apple was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur T. Steele, Fletcher V. “Pat” Steele, Jr. and John H. Steele; and a sister, Grace S. Wilson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 29, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham with Rev. Kevin Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM, prior to the service.
The family would like to thank Amy Marquis and the wonderful hospice caretakers for their loving care.
