Wanda Faye Chandler Newcomb
   Wanda Faye Chandler Newcomb, 62, of 257 Fox Hollow Drive went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2015 after a decline in health for the past two months.

   Mrs. Newcomb was born in Caswell County, NC on August 4, 1952, daughter of the late Dewey Otis Chandler, Jr., and Leona Terrell Chandler, who survives.

   Mrs. Newcomb was a 1970 Graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School, a 1973 Graduate of Averett College, and went on to receive her Masters of Education from the University of Virginia. She was a School Teacher at Stony Mill Elementary School in Pittsylvania County for 38 years – a legacy that lives on in the hundreds of lives she impacted throughout her career. She was a faithful member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where she was baptized, led Women’s Bible Study and Ministries, and ran the church library. She was also a board member of Transition Pregnancy Solutions (formerly known as Little Life). Above all, she was an extraordinary wife, mother, and grandma.

   On July 21, 1973, she married James Linwood Newcomb, Jr., who survives of the residence.

   Survivors also include two sons, James Linwood Newcomb, III, and wife, Sasha Michelle, of Morrisville, NC; Ryan Christopher Newcomb, and wife, Mary Frances; and grandson, Elijah Christopher, of Winston-Salem NC; brother, Dwight Orlando Chandler and sister, Susan Chandler Newcomb.

   In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a brother, Dewey Otis Chandler, III.

   Funeral services will be held Monday, July 20, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Woodlawn Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Brown. Interment will follow at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church in Yanceyville, NC.

   The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the church and at the residence at other times.

   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Transition Pregnancy Solutions, 2960 North Main Street, Danville, VA 24540.
