Edith Cook “Nanny” Elliott
GIBSONVILLE — Edith Cook “Nanny” Elliott, age 84, of Cotton Road, was called home by her Lord Christ, Monday, October 4, 2010 at the home of her daughter.

A native of Guilford County, she was born August 30, 1926 to the late Ralis Milton and Lalla Shepherd Cook and wife of her adoring husband, the late Vance Elliott, for 56 years. She served this world as a loving mother, grandmother, homemaker, gardener, seamstress and faithful friend.

Her life had been led by her faithfulness in Christ as life’s compass. As a lifelong devoted member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church and Sunday School teacher, the knowledge that she was able to share with so many on the simple aspects of life has greatly impacted all of those blessed with crossing her path.

Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Jobe and husband Thomas and her granddaughter, Nicole Jones and husband Bryan, all of Elon.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. C. Allen Myers III and the Rev. Tim Geiger. Interment will follow in the Apple’s Chapel Church Cemetery. Mrs. Elliott will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until taken to the church where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, 6816 Molly Road, Elon.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to Apple’s Chapel Christian Church, 7345 North N.C. 61, Gibsonville, N.C. 27249.
