Donald T. Huffman
   ELON — Donald T. Huffman, 86, of Elon, passed away at 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 23, 2015, at his residence.

   A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 67 years to Merle Walker Huffman, who survives, and son of the late Carl Maxwell Huffman and the late Elma McVey Huffman. Don served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea prior to the conflict. He was a building contractor, real estate developer, licensed real estate appraiser, and longtime member of the Alamance County Homebuilders Association. He received his real estate appraisal credentials from Indiana University and the University of Georgia and attended Elon College. He was a longtime member of Grove Park Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a charter member of Holly Hill Baptist Church, which he helped establish, and he built the Educational Building for the church. After 12 years of membership there, he returned to his church home of Grove Park Baptist. Don had a great love for people and cherished spending time with his family at Ocean Isle Beach and Pine Knoll Shores.

   Surviving, other than his wife of the home, are four children: Rev. David C. Huffman and his wife Elaine of Raleigh, Cathy Huffman Bullard and her husband Michael of Elon, Susan Huffman Bolick and her husband Steve of Raleigh, Trisha Huffman Law and her husband Tracy of Apex; seven grandchildren, Katie Huffman, Anna Huffman, Kurtis Bullard and his wife Kasey, Stephen Bolick, Kelly Bolick, Chase Elam, and Max Elam; two stepgrandchildren, Andrew and Cameron Law; and one great-grandchild, Easton Bullard. The family wishes to thank Dr. Pandit and the entire team at Alamance Regional Cancer Center, Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, and the home caregivers for their outstanding care.

   A memorial service will held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 27, at Grove Park Baptist Church with his son, Rev. David C. Huffman, and Rev. Rodger Roach officiating.

   The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. At other times they will be at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care Home of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington NC 27215.
