Mr. William Burgan “Bill” Edwards, Jr., age 78, of Manteo, NC, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Brookshire Nursing Center after a sudden illness.
Born in Alamance County, he was the son of the late William Burgan Edwards, Sr. and the late Margaret Elizabeth Graves Edwards and was married to the late Theresa McGee Edwards, who passed in 2018.
William was employed for 44 years with the State of North Carolina as a Historic Sites Specialist.
He was a former member of Macedonia Lutheran Church and loved NC history and photography.
William enjoyed all types of outdoor sports, especially hunting and fishing.
Mr. Edwards, Jr. is survived by his three children, William B. “Bill” Edwards III, Andrew “Andy” Edwards and Ellen Edwards and husband, Joe Pieper; a grandson, Alexander “Alex” Pieper; and numerous cousins.
The family is having a private memorial service at a later date.
