Harold Graves Sr. - .(Malachi > George > Henry > Josephus > Vita E.)

BURLINGTON — Mr. James Harold Graves Sr, 79, of 402 Trail Two, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at his home after a short illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs.. Mary Kivett Graves, who survives, and the son of Mr. C.L. (Con L,) Graves and Mrs.. Vita Isley Graves, both deceased. He was a self-employed landscape contractor and a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Lutheran Men, the Burlington Shrine Club, Amran Temple and the Thomas Holt Masonic Lodge. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was the former president of the North Carolina Nursery Association. Survivors other than his wife of the home include one son, Mr. James H. “Jim” Graves Jr.. of Burlington; a stepson, Mr. J. Ruffin Qualls of Burlington; a stepdaughter, Mrs.. Lou Kinney of Hillsborough; one sister, Mrs.. Margaret Edwards of Burlington; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. Rom Graves. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Steven Carl Rust, pastor. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 421 W. Front St., Burlington, N.C. 27215 or Shriner’s Hospital, c/o the Burlington Shrine Club, P.O. Box 1602, Burlington, N.C. 27216.
