Sylvanus Ellison “Buddy” Aldridge

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Mr. Sylvanus Ellison “Buddy” Aldridge Jr. passed from his family’s loving arms into his Lord’s arms on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Born February 18, 1947, in Alamance County, Buddy was the husband of Nancy Shepherd Aldridge, who survives, and the son of Sylvanus Ellison “Sib” Aldridge Sr. and Jane Vaughn Aldridge, both deceased.

Buddy was a partner in business with his wife, Nancy, of Buddy Aldridge Welding Service and Sylvan Trikes in Snow Camp, NC. He was well-known, not only for his welding skills, but the innate ability to run a business that produced superior quality workmanship on each and every job.

He was a generous but humble man who believed in helping others in need and did so often in his own quiet way, never expecting anything in return. He had a great love for his four-legged friends and was always open to adding one more to his home. Miniature horses, donkeys, mules, dogs and cats all brought him joy.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, Buddy is survived by his daughters, Stacey Aldridge (Tim Rocke) and Christina Aldridge, both of Snow Camp; three grandchildren, Jesse Warren, Jenna L. Powell (J.P.) and Aryn Goforth; one great-grandchild, Thomas Ellison Warren; brother, Gary Vaughn Aldridge of Graham; sisters, Nancy A. Annon (Jim) of Kings Mountain, Tereasa A. Wood (Henry) and Allene A. Fonville (Wally) both of Graham; an uncle, Herbert Smith; an aunt Martha Adams; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins.

The family will receive family and friends Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 9 p.m.

memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home of Henry and Tereasa Wood, 3254 South NC 87, Graham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Buddy Aldridge Welding Scholarship at Alamance Community College, c/o The ACC Foundation, P.O. Box 8000, Graham, NC 27253. Please indicate “Aldridge Scholarship” in the memo line.
