Reidsville: William "Bill" Lee Saunders, 61, of Cherry Grove Road, went home to be with our Lord on March 21, 2011. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Gaylord Dix and Sammy Allison officiating. Pallbearers will be Royce Albright, Joseph McMillian, James McMillian, Eddie Van Pruitt, Joshua Saunders and Lenis Billingsley. Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Bill was born in Caswell County on August 7, 1949, to William Henry Saunders and the late Alice Allison Saunders. He graduated in 1967 from Bartlett-Yancey High School in Yanceyville. He went to work for Adams Electric before going into the Air Force and served for four years with one year in Viet Nam. He was a retiree after 25 plus years from Ball Corporation in Reidsville. He was a sports enthusiast and loved baseball from his youth into adulthood. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed surf fishing. His main love was golf having played on 37 different courses. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deborah Howell Saunders of the home, as well as his daughter, Tonya Gauldin and husband, Allen of Reidsville, son, Jonathan Saunders and wife, Alicia of Reidsville, grandchildren, Zachary and Madison Gauldin; his father William H. Saunders and wife, Frances of Reidsville, his sisters, Brenda Rodgers of Reidsville, Wendy Page and husband, Jerry of Elon, brother, Randy Saunders and wife, Cynthia of Jamestown and five nephews and one niece. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM and other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
