William Henry Saunders
   REIDSVILLE — William Henry Saunders, 84, of 8062 Cherry Grove Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday March 27, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

   Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gaylord Dix and the Rev. Sammy Allison officiating. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.

   Mr. Saunders was born in Caswell County to the late Jonah Ware and Elizabeth Shreve Saunders. He managed Saunders Amoco Service Station for 10 years and later retired from Copland Fabrics after 20 plus years of service. He attended Trinity Baptist Church and he loved gospel music. He enjoyed farming and he was especially proud of his success with tomatoes. Surf fishing was one of his favorite pastimes. Mr. Saunders was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Allison Saunders; his son, Billy Saunders; his brother, Scott Saunders and three infant sisters.

   Survivors include his wife, Frances Overby Redd Saunders of the home; daughters, Brenda Rogers of Reidsville and Wendy Saunders Page and husband, Jerry of Elon, N.C.; his son, Randy Saunders and wife, Cynthia of Jamestown, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Deborah Saunders of Reidsville; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren;

   stepchildren, Sandra Redd of Graham, N.C., Rodney Redd of Liberty, N.C., Michael Redd and wife, Deborah of Haw River, N.C. and Tommy Redd and wife, Rose of Elon, N.C.; six stepgrandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; sisters, Inez Wrenn of Reidsville and Geraldine Saunders of Burlington; and a large extended family.

   The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the residence.
