 BURLINGTON — Bill Stokes, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. He was a native of Rockingham County and the husband of the late Joyce Saunders Stokes.
 
 Bill retired from AT&T after 36 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the Corps of Engineers. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
 
 Survivors include his sons, Keith “Sandy” Stokes and wife, Cyndi of Burlington and Terry Lynn Stokes and wife, Jennifer of Burlington; grandchildren, Patrick Stokes, Natalie Stokes, Alyssa Stokes, Thomas Stokes and Michael Riddle; stepgrandson, Jeff Ball and a late stepgrandson, Mike Ball; great-grandchildren, Jackson Stokes, Elizabeth Stokes and Brandon Riddle and stepgreat-grandchildren, Mattie Ball and Michael Ball; sister, Peggy Ann Beckworth of Conway, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Saunders Stokes; parents, Charlie Allen and Susie Pearl Gallagher Stokes and brothers, John
 
B. Stokes and Charlie Stokes, Jr. A private entombment will be held at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of Terry and Jennifer Stokes.
 
 Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
