ELON — Mrs. Odell Murray Sutton, 91, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 7, 1919 in Orange County to the late Dora Scott and William Thomas Murray. On February 13, 1936, she married Stacy Vernon Sutton. She worked at Glen Raven Mills and then retired from Burlington Industries in 1985 after 35 years of service. Mrs. Sutton was a member of Cross Way Church (Altamahaw Pentecostal Holiness Church) for 65 years. She was the second oldest member of her church and sang in the choir for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Stacy, on November 7, 2003, after 66 years of marriage.
Odell was the youngest of four brothers and seven sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Bobby Vernon (Judy) Sutton of Yadkinville, Dennis Rayburn Sutton and Ricky Sanford Sutton, both of the home; grandsons, Mark Raeford Sutton and Joel David Sutton, both of Yadkinville; and one greatgrandson,
Tyler Drew Sutton of Yadkinville; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Sutton will be conducted Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Garry Yeatts. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Way Church, P.O. Box 125, Altamahaw, NC 27202.
